Maps of Long Island Mastic Area

1 - Exact detail of the Mastic-Moriches-Brookhaven area. Location 2 is where the Manor House is. Slightly north of the Manor House is where the Weasel den is.

2 - Old map detail of the area, not to scale.

3 - 1815 map, not to scale, detailing Mastic area. The Floyds were a powerful family that also lived in the area, east of the Smith family who owned the Manor of St. George.

4 - 1916 map of Mastic area. Not to scale. Fire Island lies to the south. Note St. George Manor and its location. Also, to the upper right of the image you see what looks like "Old Reservation": this is the area where the Unkechaug Natives were, and who the Weasels will come into contact with.

5 - 1922 Map of Mastic area. Not to scale.

6 - Modern day map of what's left of the Long Island Pine Barrens, the largest extent of natural land still on the Island. When our story takes place, this entire eastern area would have been wooded save for the cleared land for farms, crops, and cattle grazing.

Manor of St. George, Mastic. Reference Photos

1 - General view of LI forest

2 - Trees bordering the Manor lawn. Facing North. *The Weasels would come out of woods that look like this.*

3 - View to left of image 2, more trees.

4 - Bordering forest

5 - Facing West on the Northern lawn.

6 - Driveway (would be dirt, not gravel) turned around from image 2 location, now facing south.

7 - Bog, east side, traveling south on the Manor lawn.

8 - Manor property facing EAST

9 - Coming up on the Manor House, facing south. The gravel driveway would have been dirt.

10 - The Manor of St. George. Facing South. The flag pole WAS NOT there at the time.

11 - Directly turned around from image 9. So this image is facing northerly.

12 - Facing West from Manor House (image 9). The cannons were not there. Beyond is the Bay, that eventually leads into the ocean. Gravel path would have been dirt.

13 - Facing south-west.

14 - Another angle of 12.

15 - Family cemetery. The gates weren't there, it was probably just graves. Facing North from the Manor House.

16 - Facing North. To the left is the graveyard. However, at this time the trees were not there, it was all field until the woods the Weasels came out of further north.

17- Close-up of where Weasels would hide. Tree must be changed to something thicker, like an oak tree. The tree pictured definitely wasn't there at the time, but something else might have been.

18 - The Manor House: Minions emerge from here.

19 - This is the place on the lawn where the Minions stop and chat.

20 - Here is where the Weasels hide, behind a big oak tree.
